Description

Years pass, fashions expire and musical paradigms change, but in the gloomy waters of post-punk there are always those who continue splashing around quite happily, especially in latitudes like Manchester, a historic source of this dark and distorted variant of rock. Hailing from there—the cradle of bands like The Chameleons, Magazine and of course Joy Division—is IST IST, a quartet that has already surpassed its first decade of career managing its destiny through its own record label, Kind Violence Records. With five albums under their belts, Adam Houghton, Andy Keating, Joel Kay and Mat Peters have developed a trajectory that is like a duel between guitars and synthesizers: sometimes the former win and sometimes the latter, but well-understood and even better-executed 80s nostalgia always wins.
