Overview

Fundación Casa de México en España presents a group exhibition focused on death through heliogravure with the participation of nineteen creators.

This cultural proposal brings together in its galleries a collection of pieces created by artists from diverse backgrounds and generations who explore death, grief, memory and absence from a contemporary perspective. The exhibition tour shows works developed with techniques such as heliogravure on copper, prints on Japanese and Hahnemühle paper, as well as supports that include interventions with tempera, embroidery and silver. The selection avoids the usual folkloric readings to propose symbolic, social and intimate approaches to disappearance and bodily and territorial transformation.

Fundación Casa de México en España, a space dedicated to the dissemination of Mexican culture in Madrid, hosts this project curated by Edgar Alejandro Hernández with the collaboration of the Helio TM workshop and Pilar Goutas. The exhibition highlights the versatility of graphic resources and the multiple expressive options of this artisanal technique in current art. The visit is aimed at all audiences interested in contemporary artistic practices and the different visual approaches to the experience of death in the Mexican context.
