Maqueta “Pla de Barcelona 2026-2035” i exposició del “making of”

The Pla de Barcelona 2026-2035 scale model has been created to mark the celebration of the World Capital of Architecture and will be exhibited permanently at the former headquarters of the Gustavo Gili publishing house, beyond 2026, as one of the standout elements of its legacy.

Beyond being a physical representation of the city, the model is an educational and urban analysis tool at the service of the citizenry, conceived as an instrument for knowledge and outreach.

It allows visitors to better understand what Barcelona is like, how it has taken shape and how it has grown over time.

It is conceived as a living object, designed to be easily updated by incorporating new transformation areas and strategic projects that the city is defining for coming years, so that the future evolution of the Barcelona metropolis can be visualised.

One of the main values of the scale model is the high level of detail, especially in buildings and urbanised spaces, which offers an image very close to the real city.

This degree of precision, made possible thanks to the use of advanced 3D representation technologies, artificial intelligence and digital printing, facilitates the recognition of neighbourhoods, streets and landmark buildings.

Thus, it contributes to understanding key aspects of the city, such as the urban structure, the complexity of its volumetry and the diversity of the fabrics that make up and identify the different urban areas.

By means of information layers superimposed through augmented reality, the model makes it possible to visualise complex processes such as the historical evolution of the city, ongoing transformation projects or future proposals.

Thus, it becomes an interactive platform to analyse, explain and imagine the Barcelona of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
