Amat Santacana
Johann Sebastian Bach's six suites for solo cello are considered one of the fundamental pillars of the repertoire for this instrument.
Amat Santacana: on Sunday 11 October 2026 at 12:00, at Espai Plana de l'Om.
Checked on 6 October 2026.
Overview
Johann Sebastian Bach's six suites for solo cello are considered one of the fundamental pillars of the repertoire for this instrument.
On this occasion, cellist Amat Santacana, founder of the Qvixote Quartet, will perform suites numbers 1 and 6 in the intimate setting of the Auditori de la Plana de l'Om.
One of the great attractions of the concert will be the use of a five-string cello for the sixth suite, an instrument practically extinct nowadays that makes it possible to recover the original sound of the work.
The programme also includes a ricercare by Domenico Gabrielli, recognised as one of the first pieces written specifically for solo cello in the history of music. You can consult the entire programme of Teatre Conservatori, Teatre Kursaal and Espai Plana de l'Om here.
