Overview
The Granollers-based theatre company Quatre x Quatre, with a history spanning over 40 years, premieres Baixos Fons, a production that moves away from complacent theatre to delve into a raw and unvarnished reality, offering a direct and deeply uncomfortable perspective.
Based on the original text by Maxim Gorki, the play is set in a filthy, decadent space where impoverished characters on the margins of society live side by side.
All of them carry a complex past and face the present from different viewpoints, shaped by how they choose to resist or surrender to life.
The arrival of Sveta, a mysterious and compassionate woman, will upset the group's balance and bring the conflict between truth and hope to the surface. Frustration, resignation and despair run through a piece that observes the harshest reality without concessions.
A striking portrayal of marginalisation and exclusion that challenges the spectator with piercing honesty.
