El otro lado de la cama

Nuevo Teatro Alcalá (Room 2) hosts from 27 August to 15 November, from Wednesdays to Sundays, the second season of this theatrical adaptation of the comedy El otro lado de la cama, with an original libretto by David Serrano and a theatre version by Borja Rabanal. A show starring Ariana Bruguera, Ana Villar, Nuria Herrero, María Petri, Mónica Macfer, Adrià Olay, Agustín Otón and Ricky Mata, with the addition this season of Carlos Serrano-Clark, under the direction of Joan Olivé.

El otro lado de la cama was the major phenomenon of Spanish cinema at the beginning of the 2000s. With 3,000,000 spectators, €12,000,000 at the box office and six Goya Award nominations, it was the highest-grossing film of 2002. Its impact was such that it led to a sequel and consolidated an entire generation of performers.

Its leap to the stage last year reaffirmed the relevance of a story that continues to engage the spectator. Because in this show one does not only talk about love: one sings about love, laughs at love and exposes its fragility with an irresistible mixture of humour, music and truth.

Its theatrical premiere exceeded all expectations in terms of audience numbers, alongside winning the Broadway World Award for Best Small-Format Musical 2026.

El otro lado de la cama paved the way for new, more honest narratives about infidelity, jealousy, desire, emotional insecurity and friendship between men and women. It is a great comedy that deals with love, sex and humour without filters or moralising. Its ironic and imperfect look at relationships remains very recognisable in current series and films.
