Overview

Torreón I of La Casa Encendida is hosting a sculptural installation by the Brazilian artist Marlon de Azambuja from 30 January to 13 December 2026, which aims to transform one of its spaces into a living territory, attentive to materiality and the thought that emerges from the place itself.

This exhibition project proposes rethinking the act of "founding" as a search for what sustains and conditions all forms of knowledge. This initial gesture reveals a desire to explore matter as thought, to get closer to what architecture conceals beneath its apparent neutrality.

Thus, Fundación reflects on the concept of the modern museum and proposes imagining it as a place capable of embracing closer, situated and sensitive forms of thinking. Throughout its development, the project will be activated by different ways of looking and thinking, reinforcing its condition as a place of permanence, listening and dialogue, where the visitor does not merely observe, but rather passes through, breathes and inhabits.

The installation also focuses on showing the concept of the "exhibition" as a place where thought manifests itself through matter, friction and shared experience.

Marlon de Azambuja (Porto Alegre, 1978) is a visual artist who lives and works in Paris. His work revolves around installation, sculpture, video, photography and drawing, seeking new forms of relationship between the viewer, architecture and urban space. Through precise interventions and minimal displacements, his work questions the codes of the art world and the systems that organise perception, proposing critical readings of the city and its visible and invisible structures.
