On 11 October at the UMusic Hotel Teatro Albéniz, Cuban choreographer and dancer Lorena Flores presents a show that represents a crossroad of roots: flamenco, Afro-Cuban heritage, and urban and contemporary dance.

Gitana en New York is a fusion flamenco show driven by Rafa Tena and the Lorena Flores Dance company, which unfolds a stage proposal that breaks down borders and connects cultures through movement and music. Following its run in Madrid, the show will embark on a tour visiting cities such as Zamora and the Thailand Dance Festival in Bangkok in 2027.

The piece proposes a symbolic and emotional journey between the island and other continents, with New York as a multicultural meeting point and transit space, serving as a basis for reflection on human exodus, migration, and the constant transformation of identity.

Flamenco is presented as a living art form capable of crossing borders without losing its essence, in a proposal with a strong visual and emotional charge that combines choral scenes and solos of great expressive intensity, performed by eleven dancers on stage.

Music plays a prominent role, featuring an original soundtrack created by composers Juan Parrilla, Efraín Chibás, and Rafa Tena, designed as one of the fundamental pillars of the work's artistic universe. Far from merely accompanying the action, the music inhabits, drives, and transforms it.

At the helm of Gitana en New York is Cuban dancer, choreographer, and artistic director Lorena Flores. Trained at the Amistad Cuba–Canadá Vocational School and at Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, she developed a solid professional career there as a solo dancer, participating in numerous international tours across Europe, America, and Asia.
