Materia viva. Un recorrido por la botánica

The Historic Garden and Rooms 23 (al-Andalus) and 26 (Andalusian Legacy) of the National Archaeological Museum's permanent exhibition are hosting a display that invites visitors to explore the relationships between nature and the societies of al-Andalus, linking plants, objects, and spaces. It can be visited from 5 June to 11 October.

Landscape is a fundamental element in any history, and in the case of al-Andalus it was no exception. Its heritage brought about major changes in the landscape and in the daily life of the medieval Iberian Peninsula and its surroundings, transforming customs, laws, and social structures; dietary, cosmetic, and medicinal habits; and even living spaces.

The exhibition tour can be experienced through the senses and across the seasons. Visitors will witness the unhurried rhythm of the museum garden, its growth and flowering. This completes a complex vision of the cultural landscape of al-Andalus, which is present today as living matter.
