Real Teatro de Retiro

The new 26/27 season of the El Real Junior project (which takes place at the Centro Cultural Daoíz y Velarde, the home of this artistic project located in the Retiro district) will run from 26 September 2026 to 27 June 2027. An initiative that aims to introduce children and young people to music and the performing arts with a total of 198 performances, of which 47 will be for schools and 151 for families, designed for audiences of different ages.

The Centro Cultural Daoíz y Velarde is the benchmark cultural and artistic space for children and young people, brought to you by the Teatro Real and Madrid City Council, who are broadening their horizons by expanding the artistic offering for children and family audiences. This initiative aims to promote access to culture and offer an engaging artistic programme to enjoy great experiences as a family.

Well-established projects, premieres, artists, guest companies and orchestras can all be seen as part of the cycle's programme. Meanwhile, schools also have the opportunity to enjoy Teatro Real shows with a greater number of school performances throughout the year.

The initiative that brings music and the performing arts to younger audiences includes a wide range of artistic proposals in this new edition, featuring 18 in-house productions and several innovative projects centred around opera, dance, musical theatre, staged shows, music, cinema with live music, workshops, debates, gatherings and parties, designed for various ages.

This season, opera continues to hold a very important place in the programme: La Federica, a children's musical company, will perform a version of G. Rossini's The Barber of Seville in February. Promoting young talent, two in-house opera-related productions can be seen: The Marriage of Figaro opera-studio, and a cycle of Micro-operas created by students from the Composition Department of the Real Conserv
