Rumores infundados. Javier y Rafa Forteza

From 8 September to 2 November, the CaixaForum Madrid venue is hosting an exhibition that includes a selection of paintings and sculptures by the artists Javier and Rafa Forteza, immersing the public in a visual universe where the recognizable resists and the figurative dialogues with matter.

This exhibition invites attendees to live a sensory experience: a field of resonances where the observer is free to imagine abysses. Some of the artists' paintings and sculptures feature a representation of an androgynous face that we do not recognize, forcing us to remain with the mystery of its identity. It is within this sort of introspective tale of unspoken words that this exhibition, their first joint venture, is anchored.

Javier and Rafa Forteza amplify the ambiguity of the image, making it stranger. In the case of Javier Forteza, the faces he shows are mobile sequences that shift between pain and calm. For his part, Rafa Forteza seeks the thickness of images, which crystallize on the surface. In his abstract paintings, raw canvas predominates, and the repetition of forms challenges expectation.

In both cases, their fascination with the enigma and with distance remains latent; abstraction becomes a poetic and symbolic language that evokes memory, rumor, and insinuation. Their pieces function as unfinished, open writings, transformed into spaces for emotion and uncertainty.
