Vint-i-nou xemeneies i una torre

The exhibition Vint-i-nou xemeneies i una torre reviews the industrial past of Poblenou and the urban transformation of the neighbourhood at the Arxiu Històric del Poblenou.

This exhibition proposal takes as its starting point the twenty-nine chimneys that are still preserved in the neighbourhood, vestiges of a factory fabric that transformed an agricultural area into an industrial engine during the nineteenth century. Through the tour of the rooms, visitors can examine the evolution of the urban landscape, the history of the old factories, the conditions of the workers and the neighbourhood mobilisations that fought for the preservation of this heritage in the face of subsequent urban redevelopment.

The Arxiu Històric del Poblenou hosts this display, which includes an evolutionary exhibition with periodically renewed contents, as well as artistic interventions located in the Torre de las Aguas del Besòs. The tour is designed for local residents, fans of local history and anyone interested in understanding the architectural and social changes in Barcelona from the industrial period to recent urban models.
