About — The artist
Robin McAuley (born 20 January 1953) is an Irish singer, best known as the vocalist of the McAuley Schenker Group from 1986 to 1993, a period during which the band released three studio albums (Perfect Timing, Save Yourself, M.S.G.), a live album and a Japan-only EP. He reunited with Schenker in 2012, then again in 2016 with Michael Schenker Fest.
In 1985, McAuley recorded a version of Paul and Barry Ryan's song “Eloise”, released as a single; in 1991, he recorded “Teach Me How to Dream”, included on the soundtrack of the film If Looks Could Kill. He also performed with Grand Prix, Survivor and Far Corporation, notably singing on their UK number 8 single, a cover of Led Zeppelin's “Stairway to Heaven”. In 1999, he released a solo album, Business As Usual, written and recorded with the help of Frankie Sullivan, future member of Survivor.
McAuley is also a longtime member of the Raiding the Rock Vault troupe, and vocalist of the all-star project Black Swan, which also brings together Reb Beach, Jeff Pilson and Matt Starr. Black Swan's album, Shake the World, was released in February 2020. McAuley performs at the Firefest festival, at the Manchester Academy, from 11 to 13 October 2024.
