#BCNVaga1976: La nit dels funcionaris

50 years since the first strike by Barcelona City Council workers during the Transition Exhibition dedicated to the first strike by municipal staff during the democratic Transition.

That pioneering strike in 1976 demanded the recognition of the rights to assembly, unionisation and strike action in the public sector; the recognition of all actual staff, including precarious and often invisible personnel; as well as the transformation of the Francoist city council into a democratic, transparent city council at the service of society.

Using photographs, newspaper archives, graphics and union documents, among other materials, the exhibition places the municipal conflict of February 1976 within the broader context of the Transition and social struggles for democratic freedoms.

The exhibition is a production by the Barcelona City Council, coordinated by the General Services Management and the Directorate of Services of the Municipal Archive System.
