Adrian Schindler et Collab. Tetuan

The Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M) in Móstoles is hosting the exhibition Tetuán, Tetuán, تطوان by Franco-German artist Adrian Schindler from 9 July to 10 January 2027, offering a profound reflection on Spain's colonial past in Morocco and its ongoing traces.

Structured around a film trilogy developed between 2018 and 2025, the exhibition broadens the interpretive framework of Schindler's work held in the museum's collection. Through a non-linear journey combining films, performances, graphic works, and installations framed within theatrical structures, the artist deploys an experimental collaborative methodology alongside cultural agents from both countries.

Using archival documents as tools, the project investigates inherited power relations and stereotypes in contemporary audiovisual production. Each of the three chapters of the trilogy explores narrative strategies to redefine emblematic urban spaces: Plaça Tetuan in Barcelona, the Tetuán de las Victorias district in Madrid, and the Cine Español in the city of Tetouan itself. Drawing on orality through songs, readings, and fictional scenes, the exhibition offers a firm resistance to hegemonic discourses.
