Conducir por Palestina | التحرّك في فلسطين

From 12 June to 18 October, Casa Árabe, in collaboration with the Canada Council for the Arts, the SAW Centre in Ottawa and the Embassy of Canada in Madrid, brings us the work of Palestinian-Canadian multidisciplinary artist Rehab Nazzal, who has portrayed occupied Palestine between 2010 and 2026 in an extensive photographic and audiovisual project carried out during a hazardous road trip.

The Columned Hall at Casa Árabe exhibits images that document, with rigor and urgency, landscapes, sounds and realities rarely visible outside the Palestinian territory. Nazzal maps the country as it is today, showing roads marked by signs and warnings that bear witness to the conditions imposed by the occupation. Thanks to the artist's perseverance, a singular body of work emerges that reveals a fragmented geography and offers a fundamental testimony of life under Israeli military control.

Rehab Nazzal is an artist, researcher and academic whose interdisciplinary practice spans photography, video, installation and sound art. Her work examines the consequences of military occupation, settler colonialism, environmental violence and the politics of control over bodies and territories. Through long-term documentary and research methodologies, Nazzal explores the daily experiences of Palestinian communities under occupation, as well as the relationships between memory, landscape and resistance. Her work has been exhibited internationally and forms part of a sustained commitment to social justice, human rights and the production of knowledge from critical and decolonial perspectives.
