Fernando Brambila

From 28 May to 12 October, the temporary exhibition hall of the Galería de las Colecciones Reales is hosting an exhibition that, for the first time, brings together such a large body of work by the painter Fernando Brambila (Cassano d'Adda, 1763-Madrid, 1834), who specialised in perspectives, landscapes and urban views.

Brambila focused his work on the depiction of topographical views, producing drawings and paintings throughout his career that were later made into prints. His most important work is the series of views of the Royal Sites, painted in oil on canvas between 1821 and 1833 at the request of King Ferdinand VII, designed to be hung in the cabinets of the various royal palaces.

With this work, he contributed to the development of an image of the Royal Sites that has remained in the collective memory thanks to its dissemination through the Collection of Views of the Royal Sites by the Royal Lithographic Establishment.
