(h)ovo

(h)ovo is a documentary, interdisciplinary theatre show that traces, through a succession of scenes, the process by which bodies stop menstruating.

(h)ovo begins with the voice of a woman who feels disoriented on realising that she has few eggs left and who misses references about this stage of life. From that starting point, the show brings to light a period of life that tends to fall outside public conversation, with a documentary register that blends different performing disciplines.

The staging is organised as a sequence of scenes that open up perception of this period of life. The protagonist speaks about her own life in a tone that alternates between play and conversation, and dwells on everyday gestures, such as washing her underwear and hanging it out in the sun to air. In this way, the intimate becomes stage material.

The creation is designed for both theatres and non-conventional spaces. In Barcelona, this production is presented at Can Rius, a theatre in Caldes de Montbui.
