Havaneres i Rom Cremat

A concert of havaneres, the sea songs of Caribbean origin rooted in the Catalan coast, whose title also refers to rom cremat, the traditional drink that is set alight before being served.

Havaneres are sea songs of Caribbean origin that reached the Catalan coast with seafarers and have been sung for generations in the fishing villages along the shoreline. They form part of Catalonia's traditional music and are performed collectively, with a repertoire tied to the voyage, the harbour and nostalgia.

Rom cremat is a traditional Catalan drink made with rum, sugar, coffee, lemon peel and cinnamon, which is set alight before being served. Both traditions give this concert its name, and its offering falls within world music.

The concert takes place at Parc de Sant Martí, a park in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona that hosts concerts and shows.
