Joan Miró. Cercles

This new presentation, curated by Teresa Montaner and Marta Ricart, takes as its starting point the inseparable binomial formed by work and space, which structures the itinerary and gives meaning to each room.

The project is inspired by a working folder that Miró put together between the second half of the 1950s and the early 1960s, preserved in the valuable archive of drawings that the artist donated to the Fundació.

Those documents, which reflect on space and time as the axes of his practice, pulse with the idea of a new way of relating people to art.

This rearrangement takes up that intuition and brings it to the present: the exhibition will foster an experience built upon the multiple relationships between the works, the space, and the people. On this renewed journey, Sert's architecture assumes an essential role.

The artist and the architect already worked hand in hand to conceive specific spaces for specific works, and this logic once again proves key: the building determines rhythms, perspectives, and thresholds that activate the gaze.

The Cypress Garden will be opened to the public, activating the dialogue between interior and exterior to allow the space to breathe and the works to connect with their surroundings and the light that surrounds them.

Featuring over a hundred works, this rearrangement is made possible thanks to the foundational generosity of Joan Miró, his family, and collectors and institutions who have donated or loaned works.
