La Rosa 14

Gaia Doblas writes and performs a dramatic monologue inspired by historical events and focused on the memory and resistance of the 13 Roses. A theatre piece that can be seen at the Gran Teatro Pavón on 4, 8, 18, 24 and 31 October; and 1 and 7 November.

Directed by Eva Manjón, the show features Carmen, a woman who wakes up in Las Ventas prison and receives the news that she must go to court. Through her memories, the audience learns about the legacy that her friends left her before dying: the 13 Roses, a group of young women executed during the post-war period in Spain.

The work shows a different trial from the one experienced at the time, where Carmen experiences and conveys a wide range of emotions: struggle, weeping, laughter, suffering and love. This seeks to honour the memory of these women and bring a story of bravery, friendship and resistance that remains relevant almost a century later to contemporary society.
