Madrid entre épocas

The Museo de Historia de Madrid presents a unique journey into the city's past from the present day through a visual dialogue between historical and current photographs. The exhibition, which can be visited from 30 April to 18 October, displays several photomontages by Andrés Valentín Pérez Serén created using the rephotography technique.

This technique consists of rephotographing an old image in the present day, from the exact same viewpoint as it was originally taken, and then fusing both images —from different eras— into a single composition.

With the idea of showing the public that Madrid does not change and, at the same time, is in constant transformation, the exhibition comprises a selection of 40 rephotographs, the result of exhaustive documentation and technical precision, in which the artist reveals which corners have withstood the passage of years and which have changed their appearance forever.
