María Escarmiento

La Riviera hosts Spanish singer María Escarmiento in concert on 13 December as part of her new tour, Forever on Tour, where she presents her latest album, Forever, which explores electronic and hyperpop sounds.

María Villar, better known by her stage name María Escarmiento, gained recognition on the music scene through her time on the television talent show Operación Triunfo 2018, where she finished eighth. After leaving the academy, she was selected as one of the possible candidates to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Muérdeme, and finished second in the selection of the song to represent the country.

In 2019 she released her first single, Amargo Amor, followed by a collaboration with Ms Nina titled La Diabla, which would feature on the latter's mixtape, Perreando x fuera, llorando x dentro. In 2020 she released her first EP, Sintiéndolo mucho, which laid the foundations of her hyperpop sound. She later joined the first series of the contest La mejor canción nunca cantada, where she sang alongside singer Roi Méndez 'La Puerta de Alcalá', a song written by her father.

In 2024 she presented her new album, iCandy, produced by The Bird and Vau Boy, with kawaii pop-themed songs that move between nostalgia for the 2000s and energetic pop. The artist is now embarking on a new tour to present her new record, Forever, made up of twelve tracks that combine 2000s-style nostalgia, hyperpop and electronic production.
