The Palacio Real de Madrid opens its historic state rooms to the public, a route through halls, corridors and gardens that served as the residence of several Spanish monarchs from the 18th century onwards.
The visit takes in the rooms where monarchs such as Charles III, Ferdinand VII and Alfonso XII lived. The route lets visitors see the décor that the nobility gradually gathered in the building from the 18th century onwards, with furniture, works of art and pieces spread across each room.
The itinerary is self-guided and is complemented by the Royal Armoury, a section devoted to the arms and armour of the Royal Household. It is a proposal designed for those who want to get to know Spanish history up close and the interior of an official seat of the Head of State.
The building is located in central Madrid and serves as an official residence, so the visit follows an established sequence of rooms and allows you to linger in each space at your own pace.
