Sandra Carrasco & David de Arahal

Sandra Carrasco and David de Arahal give a performance on 15 October at Teatro de La Abadía to present their joint project entitled Poemas de libertad. A concert that can be seen as part of the programme of the XXI Suma Flamenca festival.

Poema de la libertad is a musical creation that takes as its starting point the figure of Pepe Marchena, an essential artist in the evolution of flamenco and a benchmark for a free and personal way of understanding this art. Drawing on his legacy, this concert presents a musical and scenic reflection on creative freedom as a driving force for transformation within flamenco, highlighting the beginnings and heyday of the Ópera Flamenca. The work also pays homage to other figures close to Pepe, such as Chacón, Pastora, Pepe Pinto and Caracol.

Performed by Sandra Carrasco and David de Arahal, the project is structured around the dialogue between voice and guitar, incorporating other instruments, without proposing a historical recreation, but rather a contemporary creation. A show that will premiere at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the passing of Pepe Marchena.
