Overview
A stage version of Virginie Despentes's book of the same name, an essay on feminism and gender theory that tackles subjects such as rape, prostitution and motherhood with candour.
This production adapts Virginie Despentes's book for the stage, a key work of feminist thought and gender theory. It is a text in which the author draws on her own experience to speak about rape, prostitution, the repression of desire, morality, pornography and motherhood.
The approach seeks to contribute to dismantling the patriarchal foundations of today's society, with a direct and uncompromising discourse. The staging brings the essay's central ideas to the stage, maintaining its critical and reflective character.
The production is part of Programa.cat, a scheme backed by the Departament de Cultura of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Diputacions de Barcelona, Girona, Lleida i Tarragona. The performance is presented at the Sala Polivalent La Canal, in Tona.
