Una força del passat

"Una força del passat" brings together a selection of works coming mainly from the Fundació "La Caixa" Contemporary Art Collection, a broad and diverse set that constitutes an inexhaustible source of ideas, stories and ways of interpreting our culture and our time.

This exhibition takes its title from a poem by Pier Paolo Pasolini to pose a question to which the various works and artists respond in ways that are always different.

The exhibition brings together works that refer to previous paintings, sculptures, mythologies and iconographies through quotation, appropriation, homage or critical confrontation.

Not to establish closed genealogies, but to open a dialogue between eras from which to think about the present. Because tradition is not a nostalgic refuge: it is a living and often unpredictable source.

"Una força del passat" poses a simple but decisive question: what does it mean to look back in a time that seems condemned to the continuous present?
