Unfunny Paintings

La Plataforma is hosting the first solo exhibition in Barcelona by creator Matti Schulz, a journey through paintings and drawings in various formats that explore irony.

This exhibition brings together a selection of paintings and drawings by Matti Schulz, ranging from small formats to large-scale works. Through this collection, visitors step into a visual universe where popular culture, social critique and the absurd coexist on the gallery walls. The very title of the proposal acts as a paradox that challenges the expectation of finding immediate comedy, presenting compositions that can evoke anything from a delayed smile to a total absence of comic reaction.

The La Plataforma - Galeria d'Art Contemporani i Estudi de Producció venue presents this exhibition project designed for audiences interested in contemporary art and current visual currents. The space's curation offers an open itinerary where the images escape the obligation of having to be amusing, reclaiming a sense of humour subject to personal interpretations. During the visit, attendees can wander through the different rooms to examine in detail the strokes, colours and themes that underpin this multidisciplinary body of work landing in Barcelona.
