About — The artist
Carminho, stage name of Maria do Carmo Carvalho Rebelo de Andrade, born on 20 August 1984 in Lisbon (Portugal), is a Portuguese fado singer (fadista) and popular music performer. She grew up in a family of musicians; her mother, Teresa Siqueira, was in particular a renowned fado singer. She is one of the most talented representatives of the young generation of fado singers. Eclectic in her approach, Carminho also explores other musical genres: traditional Portuguese and Brazilian music, jazz, pop and rock.
Carminho became a star in Spain when she performed the duet Perdóname with Spanish singer Pablo Alborán, which topped the Spanish charts in 2011. Carminho's two albums, Fado (2009) and Alma (2012), were certified platinum and gold respectively in Portugal.
