About — The artist

Sex Museum is a Spanish rock band founded in Madrid in 1985.

They began as a rock group within the Madrid mod scene, which emerged in the shadow of the movida. Their early records show influences from black music (soul, rhythm and blues and rock and roll), psychedelia and garage, and they indeed appeared in the wave of the 'garage' revival of the 1980s that came from the United States. Since then their sound has evolved towards a powerful hard rock with a 1970s feel.

In 1997, after almost three years of non-stop touring, they decided to take a three-year break, returning in 2000 with their album Sonic. As of 2026, they have released a total of fifteen albums, two of them live, one shared and many EPs and singles.

They have toured the whole of Spain and a good part of Europe on numerous tours (they are known on the underground scene in Switzerland and Germany). They have also played at many national festivals (Espárrago Rock, Festimad and Viña Rock) and international ones (Beat o Mania, in Munich). In 1994, they were chosen by Deep Purple to support them on their Spanish tour.

Sex Museum was the first Spanish music group to appear on the cover of the long-running music magazine Ruta 66. The cover carried the following headline: 'Sex Museum: the best Spanish rock band of the 90s?'. They returned to the cover in November 2018, coinciding with the release of their album 'Musseexum'.

Over their forty years as a band, the members have combined their careers in Sex Museum with many side projects, most of them at an underground level, such as Los Coronas, Corizonas, Los Matadors, Wonderboys or The Tubular Greens. Furthermore, Fernando Pardo has worked as a producer for many Spanish bands.
