About — The artist
Yuja Wang (in Chinese, 王羽佳; pinyin, Wáng Yǔjiā;
Beijing, 10 February 1987) is a Chinese classical pianist. She began studying the piano at the age of six. She entered the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing a year later. By the age of 21 she was already internationally recognised and was giving recitals around the world. She has a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon. In an interview with the LA Times, she said: 'For me, playing music is transporting myself to another way of life, another way of being. An actress does that.'
