FRANCESCO GIOMI E MICHELA ATZENI:BRULLA

Documentary for voices and live electronics with Michela Atzeni (voice, text) and Fiorenzo Caterini and Grazia de Ledda (text). A sound theatre work devoted to Sardinia and to one of the lesser-known chapters of its history: the process of deforestation that reshaped its landscape over the centuries, contradicting the image of an arid, inhospitable land that the island has carried with it only since relatively recent times. The music and live electronics of Francesco Giomi intertwine with the voice of Michela Atzeni and with extracts from the anthropologist Fiorenzo Caterini, one of the leading scholars of logging in Sardinia. The form is that of a sound action in which the voice, the undisputed protagonist, constantly engages with materials ranging from field recording to the purely musical dimension, opening up unexpected relationships between text and sound. Rather than documenting, the aim is to raise awareness of the subject.

Parade Électronique is a project curated by MMT Creative Lab with the contribution and patronage of the Comune di Milano, in collaboration with Teatro Arsenale di Milano.

For 35 years, MMT Creative Lab has promoted projects devoted to research music and to applications of technology in the field of music, following the evolution of the relationship between sound, digital culture and the transformations of contemporary society.
