A route through the four floors of Palazzo Madama in Turin, from Roman-era foundations to the Baroque, with medieval, Renaissance and Baroque works and decorative arts from various periods.
The route unfolds across the four floors of Palazzo Madama, tracing its history from ancient Rome to the Baroque. In the basement, visitors come across Roman foundations and some medieval stones, alongside sculptures and jewellery; from here one also reaches the medieval garden.
On the ground floor, exhibitions are devoted to the fifteenth-century castle and to medieval and Renaissance art, including Antonello da Messina's Portrait of a Man. On the first floor, the Baroque rooms house seventeenth- and eighteenth-century paintings and furniture by Piffetti and Prinotto, set in richly decorated spaces.
The second floor brings together decorative arts from different periods: ceramics, ivories, jewellery, textiles and glass. Palazzo Madama is a museum housed in a historic building in Turin, and the visit is organised floor by floor, with a permanent collection of ancient art.
