Fatoumata Diawara

Fatoumata Diawara combines traditional Malian sounds with modern influences such as pop, jazz and electronic music on stage. The concert takes place at Festsaal Kreuzberg.

Fatoumata Diawara works as a singer and actress and is regarded as one of the defining voices of contemporary music from Mali. Her musical work moves between traditional melodies, tichoumaren, Wassoulou music and elements of jazz, afrobeat, hip-hop and pop. Her debut album Fatou, released in 2011, brought international acclaim, followed by the release of the work Fenfo in 2018 and the album London Ko from 2024, which was created in collaboration with Damon Albarn. Influences from Europe and West Africa flow together in this creative output.

The programme is aimed at an audience interested in world music connections and contemporary pop arrangements. Festsaal Kreuzberg in Berlin provides the setting for this performance. The presentation brings the various facets of her musical identity to life on stage.
