Jorge Vercillo

Jorge Luiz Sant'anna Vercillo (Rio de Janeiro, 11 October 1968) is a Brazilian singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. With more than 30 years of career, Vercillo has become one of the most important names in MPB. He won a diamond disc and two Latin Grammys, in 2009 and 2010, and was nominated twice more, in 2012 and 2013.

Vercillo also holds the record for telenovela themes on TV Globo, with 23 songs. He is considered a Brazilian hit-maker, with more than 20 songs (from 1999 to 2019) at the top of the charts in Brazil in the adult and popular segment, having sold around 4.5 million copies over his career. Thus, in 2000, the third most played song on Brazilian radio was Final Feliz, from Vercillo's third album, Leve. In 2002, the most performed song in the country was Que Nem Maré, from the famous album Elo, which was the second best-selling album of 2002 in the country with 1.5 million copies sold at a difficult moment for the Brazilian record industry. The album was released by the record label EMI Music. Later, in 2003 and 2004, Vercillo remained at the top of the charts with his album Livre, with tracks such as Monalisa, a single that once again reached the summit of the charts in Brazil, and Contraste. From then on, Vercillo's prominence continued to grow in the following years with the albums "Signo de ar", adding to Vercillo's hits the single that gives the album its name, as well as the tracks Melhor Lugar and Ciclo, the latter as the main theme of the telenovela A Lua Me Disse on TV Globo. The tracks were widely played on radio stations across Brazil in 2005 and 2006, which led to the project "Jorge Vercillo Ao Vvo 2006" (one of the best-selling national music DVDs of the year, with 250,000 copies sold). Then, in 2007, Vercillo released the album "Todos Nós Somos Um", unleashing a new studio sound and winning a Grammy for Best MPB Album, with great critical acclaim. This album contains the track Ela Une Todas como Graças, a song important in Vercillo's career, one of the main themes of the telenovela Caras & Bocas on Rede Globo, and surprisingly the most performed song at weddings across Brazil.

Since then, Vercillo has released six albums and two live DVDs. On each album, Vercillo scored successive national hits, played on radio stations across Brazil. Many of his songs have already been recorded both by new performers and by major names in Brazilian music, such as Ana Carolina, Maria Bethânia, Caetano Veloso, Buchecha, Chrystian & Ralf, Claudia Leitte, Luiza Possi, Belo, Jorge Aragão, among others.
