Javier Carvajal Ferrer. 100 aniversario de su nacimiento

Marking the centenary of the birth of Javier Carvajal Ferrer, the Parque del Retiro hosts an outdoor exhibition from 2 to 30 October dedicated to one of Spain's most important architects of the second half of the 20th century and a key figure in the transformation of modern architecture in Spain. Organised by Madrid City Council, through its Directorate General for Cultural Heritage, the Official College of Architects of Madrid and the COAM Architecture Foundation, the exhibition opens within the framework of the 23rd International Architecture Week of Madrid with the aim of recognising and highlighting the figure and work of Javier Carvajal Ferrer. Over the course of his professional and academic career, Carvajal developed a body of work characterised by attention to constructive detail, careful use of materials and a profound reflection on the relationship between architecture, city and landscape. His buildings form part of contemporary architectural heritage and have contributed significantly to the urban identity of Madrid. The exhibition brings together a selection of 13 buildings representative of the different stages of his career and of the diversity of his architectural output. This route allows visitors to approach his legacy and recognise the cultural and heritage value of contemporary architecture.
