Overview
The Library of the Royal Botanical Garden-CSIC will present the exhibition No acabarán mis flores. Las múltiples vidas de la flora mexicana, in the Villanueva Pavilion from 30 September to 12 February. An exhibition that explores the relationships between flowers and human societies through time.
The exhibition brings together the stories of eleven Mexican flowers and traces the marks they have left on different cultures and eras. Their biographies are organised around five main themes: love, death, intoxication, power and conversion, which allow a deeper look at the diversity of knowledge, uses and symbolism associated with these species.
The exhibition also pays tribute to traditional aromas and knowledge linked to nature, and incorporates four olfactory spaces designed to immerse visitors in the fragrances of raw materials and species as emblematic of Mexican culture as vanilla, copal, magnolia and marigold.
