La Nova Cançó

A tribute to the Nova Cançó, the Catalan-language song movement that brought together language, country and commitment, with Lídia Pujol on vocals and Dario Barroso on guitar.

This concert pays tribute to the Nova Cançó, a musical movement that, according to the project, was also a language, a country and a conscience. Lídia Pujol revives the voices that defended freedom by singing in Catalan, from poetry and commitment, drawing on the legacy of Ovidi Montllor, Lluís Llach, Pau Riba, Víctor Jara, Marina Rossell, Maria del Mar Bonet, Toti Soler and Raimon.

The proposal forms part of a cycle that connects this repertoire with the work of Cecilia, two examples of committed music and living memory. Lídia Pujol acts as a bridge between both resistances, those that turned suffering into art and censorship into verse, to remind us that the sung word can change the world.

On stage, Lídia Pujol sings and Dario Barroso plays guitar. The production is handled by Lídia Pujol, with Laura Rubio as manager and production lead. The project highlights the closeness between musicians and audience as the core of the concert, which takes place at Sala Heartbreak Hotel, a venue that hosts concerts and shows in Barcelona.
