Suárez. Un diálogo con el Arte

The Museo Lázaro Galdiano hosts from 6 to 25 October an exhibition bringing together a carefully chosen selection of historical pieces and contemporary creations by the fine jewellery house Suarez. Curated by Eloy Martínez de la Pera, the display traces more than eighty years of the jewellery house's history, sharing space with paintings and masterpieces from the museum's permanent collection.

The route through the exhibition seeks to create bonds and build formal, chromatic and conceptual bridges between the jewels and the visual arts. Throughout the galleries, the creations are displayed alongside canvases by masters such as Sofonisba Anguissola, Juan Carreño de Miranda, Claudio Coello, Luis Paret or Federico and Raimundo de Madrazo. In this way, pieces of goldsmithry and paintings share the space to explore common themes such as the representation of power, identity, the use of light and the treatment of materials across the centuries.

The exhibition also serves as a tribute to the craft and traditional techniques developed by master jewellers since the house opened its first workshop in Bilbao in 1943. Through this encounter, jewellery is presented not only as an object of adornment, but as part of the cultural heritage and European artistic memory.
