About — The artist
No Te Va Gustar, also known as NTVG, is an Uruguayan rock band formed in 1994 in Malvín, Montevideo. Its line-up includes singer and guitarist Emiliano Brancciari, bassist Guzmán Silveira, drummer Diego Bartaburu and trumpeter Martín Gil. Founded by Brancciari, Mateo Moreno and Pablo Abdala, it began as a group of friends playing at a small festival. It is regarded as Uruguay's most popular and most international rock band, and one of the most acclaimed Latin American groups.
Five years after its formation, the band self-released its first studio album, Solo de Noche, inspired by the emerging Latin rock scene. It signed with Bizarro Records for Este Fuerte Viento que Sopla (2002), which consolidated its success in Uruguay. After three albums released between 2004 and 2008 and a series of tours, it achieved an international commercial breakthrough. Its sixth album, Por Lo Menos Hoy (2010), was performed in front of 60,000 people in Montevideo. El Calor del Pleno Invierno (2012) was the first album by the band to reach number one in Uruguay and Argentina.
The following albums, El Tiempo Otra Vez Avanza (2014) and Suenan las Alarmas (2017), topped the charts of the Cámara Uruguaya de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas in their home country. In 2019, the band founded its own label, Elefante Blanco, to release Otras Canciones, featuring collaborations with Latin American musicians. Its tenth album, Luz, also peaked at number one in Uruguay. While retaining its usual blend of rock and pop, the band has experimented with murga, candombe and punk. It has been nominated for ten Latin Grammys, two MTV Europe Music Awards, one MTV MIAW Award and one Premios Gardel, and has won an Iris Award.
