About — The venue

La Caja Mágica is a multi-purpose stadium located in Madrid (Spain). It sits in the San Fermín neighbourhood, in the Usera district, on the banks of the Manzanares river. It was presented as the most modern tennis facility in the world, although the investment has proved unprofitable, and as the flagship infrastructure of Madrid's bids for the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, which never came to fruition. The venue has hosted the Madrid Masters tennis tournament every year since 2009.

Besides tennis, the facility is used for various other events. Real Madrid basketball team played its home matches in the ACB League and EuroLeague at this venue in the 2010/11 season, leaving at the end of that season due to strong criticism from its supporters regarding its location, transport, services and acclimatisation. In the 2011/12 season it played only occasionally a few EuroLeague matches there, and it left the venue entirely for the 2012/13 season.

In 2012 it was the base of the HRT Formula 1 team until the team disappeared in 2013 after being excluded from the championship.

In 2024 it hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on 16 November. This was the second Eurovision-related festival in 55 years, since the last one held in Spain.
