Informazioni — L’artista
Eliza Rose (born 28 November 1991) is a British DJ, music producer and singer.
Born in London's East End, she grew up in Dalston and began working at the record shop Flashback Records at the age of 14. A passionate fan of soul and jazz, she has been singing since her youth and started mixing at the end of her teens, once she had saved enough money to buy records. She pursued higher education and also took music production courses. She hosts a radio show for The Vinyl Factory and has recorded collaborations with various artists.
Interplanetary Criminal, DJ and producer, sent her the song « B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All) », for which she wrote the lyrics, inspired by Pam Grier in the film Coffy. The track enjoyed a surprise success, widely played on the London club scene and then at the Glastonbury Festival 2022. It entered the UK Singles Chart on 29 July 2022 and reached number one in September. She became the first female DJ to top the UK Singles Chart since Sonique in 2000, and the artist with the UK number-one single on the day of the death of Queen Elizabeth II and the beginning of the reign of King Charles III. In December 2022, the track was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
Eliza Rose has also written a novel, What Happens in Dreamland.
