Attila Faravelli e Astri Nascenti / Scala - Danae Festival

Attila Faravelli at Non-Environment Studio

Scala is an offering that brings together listening and observation through sessions made up of two moments: on the one hand, listening to recorded music in the Non-Environment studio, a space designed to minimise acoustic interference within it; on the other, observation of the urban night sky in the nearby Parco Trotter, carried out in collaboration with Astri Nascenti, a project set up to bring children, students and local residents closer to astronomy and to the observation of the sky. The title loosely takes its name from Geoffrey West's Scale, which examines the regularities and transformations that emerge when the same phenomenon is observed at different scales. The performance shifts this attention from the quantitative to the perceptual: what happens when a familiar object is encountered at a level of resolution different from that of everyday experience?

Scala sets out to connect the way we listen with the way we look. In the acoustically treated studio, listening takes place through high-precision systems that reveal sonic details often overlooked. In the same way, astronomical observation, though from a fixed position, is dynamic: the eye adjusts and explores phenomena invisible to the naked eye. The project thus invites audiences to slow down, to pause and, precisely through this apparent stillness, to range more widely in their perception.
