Tom Skinner

Tom Skinner at BIKO

Drummer, composer and a linchpin of the London scene, Tom Skinner has for over twenty years been an essential presence in contemporary jazz: co-founder of Sons of Kemet, a sought-after collaborator for celebrated electronic producers and masters of rhythm, and the author of unconventional personal projects such as Hello Skinny.

In recent years his path has intertwined with another constellation of sounds: that of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, with whom Skinner founded The Smile, the band that carried the experimental legacy of Radiohead into territories where art rock, improvisation and polyrhythms fuse into a new language. A chapter that also established him as a rising star of international experimental rock, further enriching the range of his artistic voice.

Alongside these experiences is his solo work, in which Skinner explores a more intimate, meditative and deeply compositional dimension. His new album, Kaleidoscopic Visions, released in September 2025 by International Anthem, recounts the view from middle age: a record that brings memory, transformation, responsibility, time and creativity into dialogue. An album that weaves together contemporary jazz, chamber-like harmonies, suspended atmospheres and exceptional collaborations.
