El Cascanueces

The most enchanting Christmas story is back to captivate audiences of all ages.

Following the tradition and spirit of classical ballet, this sumptuous production by the Tchaikovsky National Ballet captures all the beauty and drama of authentic romantic ballet, an all-time classic that appeals to every generation.

In each of its performances, the main motivation of the Tchaikovsky National Ballet is to maintain the traditions and essence of the purest classical ballet, making them a feast for the senses with the charm of its costumes and the visual splendour of its sets, creating a fascinating balance with the precision of its lines and the sobriety of its choreography.

This ballet, one of Tchaikovsky's best known with the original choreography by Lev Ivanov, is a fable with a Christmas spirit that speaks of the longing for lost childhood and the clash between the reality of adults and the dream world of children.

The libretto belongs to Marius Petipa, derived from a text by Alexandre Dumas, who in turn was inspired by the famous tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

Innocence, inner beauty and bravery are the core themes of El Cascanueces. A fantasy brought to us by the Tchaikovsky National Ballet that entertains and delights anyone who still believes in magic.
