Meghana Sardar

Meghana Sardar Kenjale, a dhrupad performer, one of the oldest vocal traditions of Indian classical music, presents a journey through the essential principles of this style at the Museu de la Música, as part of Trànsits.

Dhrupad is a vocal practice handed down from master to disciple over the centuries, linked to meditation, contemplation and the sonic exploration of the raga. In this presentation, the voice unfolds with great subtlety the melodic and expressive nuances of the Hindustani tradition.

Meghana Sardar Kenjale is a disciple of the master Pandit Uday Bhawalkar and belongs to the Dagar Parampara lineage. On stage she is accompanied by Sílvia Vidal, on the tambura and vocal support, and Jorge Lozano, on the pakhawaj.

The programme offers a journey through the basic principles of dhrupad, with the aim of bringing to the audience one of the most refined and spiritual manifestations of North Indian music. It is part of Trànsits, at the Museu de la Música - L'Auditori de Barcelona.
