Visit the Museo del Prado, one of Madrid's most important art galleries. This guided tour takes you through famous works of art, with information about the lives of the artists, their techniques and the historical context.
It begins with the unsettling Black Paintings by Francisco Goya, known for their themes of darkness and human struggle. It then moves on to the elongated figures of El Greco, learning how this painter of Greek origin came to influence Spanish Renaissance art.
Take in the rich colours and dramatic scenes of Rubens, whose Baroque masterpieces fill the museum's galleries. The tour ends with Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez, a complex and detailed painting that is a high point of Western art. Look at Goya's Black Paintings again and learn about the elongated figures of El Greco
