About — The artist
Yasmine Hamdan (in Arabic: ياسمين حمدان), born in 1976, is a Lebanese composer and performer who lives in Paris. She began her career with Soapkills, the electronic duo she founded with Zeid Hamdan in Beirut in 1997. Soapkills' pioneering approach (one of the first electronic groups in the Middle East) has had a lasting influence, and Yasmine Hamdan is still regarded as an icon of underground music across the Arab world.
