Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi: '700 napoletano e dintorni

The Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan hosts an event devoted to the repertoire of the Neapolitan eighteenth century and its musical influences.

The programme focuses on vocal and instrumental music linked to the eighteenth-century Neapolitan school, a period when the Campanian city was one of Europe's leading musical centres. The repertoire includes works by composers active in that era, characterised by a writing that combined the contrapuntal tradition with the melodic cantability typical of opera and sacred music of the Mediterranean area.

On stage, performers dedicated to rediscovering and promoting this historical heritage take turns, performing the pieces according to philological criteria and with the aid of original scores. The Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi provides its hall for this musicological exploration, forming part of Milan's programme devoted to classical and early music.

The audience for the evening includes enthusiasts of music history and listeners interested in the baroque and pre-Classical repertoire. The Conservatorio's hall is the usual setting for concert seasons and high-profile recitals in the Lombard city.
