Jack Hunter / Curvature of the Soul - Danae Festival

Spettacolo di Jack Hunter e Curvature of the Soul, inserito nel Danae Festival e in programma a Milano nello spazio ZONA K.

Jack Hunter is an award-winning Scottish disabled artist, actor, writer, playwright and poet, and a poetry slam champion. Originally from Inverness, Jack graduated in 2017 in Dramatic Arts and Acting from Queen Margaret University. He is an activist who campaigns for a change of perspective on disability. He opens the film for the international “More than Palsy” campaign, launched for World Cerebral Palsy Day 2025 to challenge stereotypes about CP (cerebral palsy).

Curvature of the Soul is a comic and surreal spoken word show. After discovering he has a hole in his shoe, Jack is forced to embark on an introspective journey to learn how best to face this inaccessible world. Jack tells stories and recites poems inspired by his own experience, to dismantle clichés and criticise ableism. Through his verse, he denounces barriers, diminished expectations and even the burden of being considered a “source of inspiration”. Jack's poems tackle a range of themes, including mental health, dating, public transport, and the pros and cons of orthopaedic shoes. Everyday life seen through the eyes of a disabled person. But the storytelling does not stop at protest. Irony, self-irony and humour become tools of empowerment, devices that restore complexity, dignity and joy.
